What's New
The latest features, improvements, and fixes in Dama King. We ship often — here's what has changed lately.
v1.15 — Puzzles and lessons on the phone
August 2026The Daily Puzzle, the tactics trainer and all seven lessons now work in the app.
- AddedPuzzles in the mobile app: the full set, filterable by theme, with your solved count and which ones you got without a hint.
- AddedThe Daily Puzzle in the app — the same position as everyone else, one attempt, and the streak follows your account.
- AddedAll seven lessons in the app, in English and Filipino, with the board showing which of your pieces can move.
- ImprovedYour solved puzzles now appear straight away when you open the app, even with no signal, and anything you solve offline is sent once you are back.
- FixedSolving the Daily Puzzle now counts as solving that puzzle everywhere, instead of only on the device you solved it on.
- FixedTapping the lesson you are already on now resets the board with it, instead of leaving the finished position on screen.
- FixedThe Daily Puzzle page no longer runs the phone or laptop hot while you look at it.
- FixedThe puzzle page now shows in Filipino, like the rest of the puzzle screens.
v1.14.1 — The board faces you
August 2026On the mobile app, your own pieces sit at your end of the board.
- FixedThe mobile board was drawn upside down: your own pieces sat along the far edge and advanced towards you instead of away. Practice, Damath and online games now all put your pieces nearest you, matching the web.
v1.14 — Damath against people
August 2026Damath comes off the practice board — play it against a friend, with the score kept for you.
- AddedDamath is now a choice when you create a game, so you can play it against another person instead of only the computer.
- AddedThe running score sits beside the board for both players: points taken, chips still on the board, and the projected final.
- AddedDamath games show a Damath badge in the lobby, so you know what you are joining.
- ImprovedScores are worked out and kept by the server, so neither player can change them and both always see the same total.
- FixedA best-of Damath series, and a Damath rematch, now stay Damath instead of quietly turning into ordinary Dama.
- FixedA game that ends level now says so, and a game decided on points after a repetition no longer claims someone ran out of moves.
v1.13 — Lessons in Filipino
August 2026The tutorial and the puzzles now teach in Filipino too.
- AddedAll seven lessons — the explanations, hints and answers — are now written in Filipino as well as English.
- AddedPuzzle titles and hints are translated too.
- FixedReturning with Filipino selected no longer leaves the page marked as English, which confused screen readers.
v1.12 — The Daily Puzzle
August 2026One puzzle a day, the same for everyone, and a streak worth keeping.
- AddedA Daily Puzzle — the same position for every player, changing at midnight Manila time.
- AddedA streak that counts the days in a row you solve it, and remembers your longest run.
- ImprovedPuzzle and lesson progress now follows your account instead of living in one browser. Anything you solved before signing in is kept.
v1.11 — A real difficulty ladder
August 2026Six levels instead of three, and Easy finally plays like a person.
- ImprovedSix difficulty levels — Beginner through Master — each showing roughly what rating it plays at, on both the site and the app.
- FixedThe easiest level used to move at random, which made it unpredictable rather than easy. It now thinks about every move and simply makes more mistakes.
- ImprovedA much stronger top level: the engine remembers positions it has already worked out, so it searches considerably deeper in the same time.
- ImprovedYour chosen level is remembered between visits.
v1.10 — Damath on your phone
August 2026The app gets Damath, with the same rules and the same scoring.
- AddedDamath in the mobile app — numbered chips, operation squares, and a running scoresheet, in Filipino.
- AddedVoiceOver and TalkBack read the operation on each square and the number on each chip.
- ImprovedThe app and the website now score Damath identically, checked move by move on every build.
v1.9 — Filipino
August 2026Dama King now speaks Filipino.
- AddedFilipino language support — switch between English and Filipino from the menu, and the site remembers your choice.
- AddedThe navigation, the tutorial, Damath and the puzzles are all translated.
v1.8 — Damath
August 2026The Filipino school game, playable in your browser.
- AddedDamath — dama with arithmetic, the version played in Philippine schools. Numbered chips, operation squares, and a running scoresheet.
- AddedEvery capture shows you the sum it scored, so you can see where the points came from.
- AddedThe full rules and a printable board at /damath/rules and /damath/board.
- ImprovedA dama now keeps its chip number when it is crowned.
v1.7 — Puzzles
August 2026Eighteen positions with one move that beats the rest.
- AddedPuzzles — real positions taken from played games, each with a single best move to find. Filter by theme, and your progress is remembered.
- AddedEvery puzzle has a hint if you want one, and solving without it earns a “clean” mark.
- ImprovedThe tutorial and the puzzles now share the same board, so they behave identically.
v1.6 — Fair Play & Access
August 2026Ranked results are verified end to end, and the board is playable without a mouse.
- ImprovedEvery ranked result is now verified by the server before it can affect your rating.
- AddedThe board is fully playable from the keyboard — Tab to reach it, arrow keys to move around, Enter to select.
- AddedScreen readers now announce each move as it is played.
- FixedBoard coordinates now match the board when you play as Black. They used to read upside down.
- FixedThe “players online” count on the home page is accurate again — it no longer counts people who watched a game hours ago.
- ImprovedWe no longer keep a copy of your email address outside the sign-in system.
- ImprovedUsernames are now 3–24 characters using lowercase letters, numbers and underscores, and two players can no longer share a name that differs only by capitalisation. A small number of existing names were adjusted to fit.
- FixedThe help page said new players start at 1200 rating. Everyone starts at 1000.
- ImprovedThe mobile app now submits moves through the same verified server path as the web, so ranked games played on your phone count towards your rating again. Update to 1.1.0 to get it.
- AddedOn mobile, VoiceOver and TalkBack now announce whose turn it is, what your opponent played, and the result.
- ImprovedMobile move history now uses board coordinates (E3 → D4) instead of raw row and column numbers.

v1.4 — Friends & Presence
July 2026See who’s online and build your friends list.
- AddedSee how many players are online right now, and browse who to challenge from the lobby.
- AddedAdd friends by username (with request + accept), see which friends are online, and challenge them in one tap.
- AddedFriend-request notifications in the navbar.
- FixedThe board no longer wobbles or shakes while playing — moves and highlights now stay rock-steady.
